Flash those lights, tap those shoes.
Drama isn't just about trying to be someone. It's about being someone, expressing his/her emotions through your own body and soul. In Pembroke, we make this come true - this is your chance, not only to shine on stage, but to experience how it is like to find your 'being' in your character.
But that's not all.
For a few actors and actresses on stage, a big production team is the pushing force behind. From directing, sounds to lights, every gear is required to make the clock tick. If the stage is not for you, you can always find your place here. The newly built Pichette Auditorium will be your best training grounds, with marvelous backstage space and more lighting to explore.
This is what Pembroke Drama is like: there is always a place for you, to cast the right magic spells.
There are mainly two parts of Pembroke Drama - Drama cuppers and Pembroke Musical.
The Drama Cuppers is a Fresher's Drama competition with a small cast (under 10). The team is given under 30 minutes to perform a piece of choice, whether adapted or original. If Freshers are interested, please do contact one of the Music and Drama Reps and also keep an eye on any drama events! Ask anyone who's done it - it's fun, creative and also very flexible. In MT'15 a Pembroke contingent was very successful in their production of an original mockumentary of Fresher's Week.
The Pembroke Musical is also a huge opportunity to test how sharp your blade is. Every Trinity Term, Pembroke produces its own musical, taking brilliant actors around Oxford and of course from Pembroke as well. Not long ago, the musical 'Cabaret' was performed to great success and a nearly sold out run, even featuring a live band. Last year, we put on the play 'Orca' in the striking setting of the our very own Chapel. Auditions are usually early HT, but you can watch out for the multiple emails regarding it!
So. Put on your costumes or push out the prop - get ready for the absolutely amazing Pembroke Drama Scene!
